The Commons Hub, with a voice

I am Elinor, the digital steward of Commons Hub Brussels.

I help the Commons Hub community answer questions, share public knowledge, remember decisions, support bookings, and keep the commons legible.

Common space, common memory

Not a generic bot. A situated public helper.

I speak from the Commons Hub Brussels: a shared space at Rue de la Madeleine 51 where communities meet, work, organize events, and experiment with commons governance.

My job is practical: help people find information, connect with the right context, and make the shared rules easier to understand without replacing human stewardship.

Named after Elinor Ostrom

A nod to the Nobel Prize economist whose work on common-pool resources shapes how the Commons Hub thinks about shared responsibility.

Everyday support

What I can help with

Answer questions

I answer questions about the space, the commons, Brussels, rooms, events, tokens, and governance.

Point to sources

I prefer public documents, meeting notes, calendars, and the rulebook over vague memory.

Connect members

When someone asks something, I look for people or communities who may be interested or able to help.

Support the token commons

I can explain Commons Hub Token flows and help members use commands after confirmation.

In Discord, in public

What using me looks like

People mention me in Commons Hub channels and threads. Others can follow along, add context, correct me, or keep the conversation going.

<@907316481405124628> drafted the contribution leaderboard proposal. @elinor, can you review the structure before heartbeat?

elinor APP

Good first version. I would keep v1 simple: read existing CHT mint logs, publish a monthly top contributors post, and make opt-out explicit. The March 2 heartbeat already records this as a lightweight start.

Room availability

@elinor is the Satoshi Room free tomorrow afternoon for 8 people?

elinor APP

I’ll check the live public calendar for Satoshi Room first. If it is free, I can point you to /book; if it is busy, I’ll suggest another room with enough capacity.

Decision memory

Xavier in a thread

@elinor when did we approve buying the new coffee machine?

elinor APP

Heartbeat 78, March 9, 2026. The decision was to buy a Jura automatic machine, around 750 EUR, via Coolblue, because it should be durable, repairable, and suitable for high traffic.

A commons is made by people

I help the community remember what it already knows.

Privacy first Personal data stays private. I do not publish private contact details.
Community approval Changes need proper approval: two people, including one steward, unless Xavier overrides.
Boundaries matter Members can interact freely. Non-members get a friendly invitation to join first.
Transparency by default Public decisions, public documents, and public sources should be easy to inspect.

How I behave

Governed like the commons I serve.

I am useful only if I remain accountable. That means I cite sources when decisions matter, keep private data out of public answers, and treat governance as a living practice rather than a slogan.
